Our office is expanding and we’re looking for a medical assistant to help us provide first-class patient care! You’ll be responsible for greeting patients and scheduling appointments and work directly with our healthcare staff to record patient histories, collect test samples, and assist with examinations. Our ideal candidate preferably has some experience working in a medical office performing clinical tasks or in an administrative role and knows how to build an excellent rapport with people. Responsibilities: • Provide support to healthcare staff during examination by handing the correct supplies and medical instruments to the physician, position the patient, and assisting with other tasks as needed• Record patient vital signs including body temperature, respiration rate, blood pressure, and pulse and add the information to their chart• Draw blood and prepare blood samples for laboratory tests under supervision• Get examination rooms ready for patients by ensuring the rooms are well-stocked and at a comfortable temperature and all equipment is sterilized• Speak with the patient about the reason for their visit and record their personal information and medical history to share with the healthcare staff• Triage patients and record consistent and accurate documentation of patient’s medical history• Performing pre screening exams• Checking vision and identifying chief complaints• Tonometry dilation• Administering medications to patients in clinic and provide patient education• Will be required to get detailed health information from patients and document health histories• Various diagnostic tests (Fundus photos, OCT, Visual Fields), and may also include some advanced diagnostic testing• Assist with maintaining an efficient clinic experience• Assisting physicians with ophthalmic procedures• Maintaining medical/surgical supplies• Utilize EHR with all HIPAA standards• Prepare examinations room and patient's medical record• Understanding of basic healthcare terminology• Driving a company provided vehicle which may hold employees and office equipment• Managing incoming phone calls and documenting communications within patient platforms such as NexTech, Pressia On-Call, or other relevant sources Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED• Ability use a computer to complete administrative tasks • Previous experience as a medical assistant performing administrative duties or similar role in a healthcare work environment is preferred• Completed an accredited medical assisting program and an externship in a supervised healthcare setting• Reliability is a top priority• Ability to master ophthalmology and retina terminology with a basic understanding of healthcare terminology• Must be able to multitask• Possess high energy, have a positive professional attitude• Strong communication skills with a team player approach• Critical time management skills• Demonstrated ability to interact with healthcare professionals, patients, and insurance companies alike with poise and proper etiquette• Adhere to ongoing training and education• Demonstrate effectiveness showing courtesy, diligence, integrity, and teamwork• Strong interpersonal skills (effective listening, clear communication, effective customer problem resolution, warm demeanor)• Willing to train• Ability to lift more than 30lbs• Ability to converse with patients – speaking and hearing• Frequent use of a computer terminal, keyboard, and mouse• Manual dexterity to operate ophthalmic equipment Compensation: $17 - $21 hourly About Company: Benefits: Paid Time Off + Holidays, Medical Insurance, Vision, Dental, 401K, Life InsuranceTravel within 120 miles is required (company-provided transportation, day trips only), which can mean early mornings and long days.Schedule varies depending on assigned role and/or assigned physicianPhysical Demands and Abilities: Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, ability to lift more than 30lbs
