Lifeguard part time Job Summary: The Lifeguard improves the safety of all participants to reduce the risk of injury and/or drowning. The Lifeguard plays an instrumental role in also maintaining the safety of the pool environment, including constant monitoring of the pool deck and locker room. A successful Lifeguard assesses situations swiftly, and make judicious decisions regarding the safety of swimmers. Top candidates are excellent communicators, swift and safety-minded. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This position offers flexible work schedule between 12-25 hours per week. Pay starting at $16hr+, experience compensated!!! Essential Functions: Supervises swimming activities and ensures that policies, guidelines and safety procedures are followed. Warns swimmer of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies. Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary. Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure they are safe and usable. Reports individual swimmer concerns directly to Director of Wellbeing. Physical Demands: The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or chair lift controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to perform all on-deck and in-water duties as needed. Lifeguard must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. While performing job duties, the employee frequently is required to stand, walk, climb the pool ladder, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch (ex. put on ankle weights for members). Specific vision abilities include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Ability to see and hear noises in the aquatic environment as well as ability to recognize swimmers who are in distress Required Qualifications: American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard certification CPR/First Aid/AED Certifications Episcopal Homes is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmation Action employer.
