Summary The Department of Natural Sciences at UM-Dearborn is seeking applications for one or more LEO Lecturer I non-tenure track appointments for Fall term 2024 which begins September 1, 2024. The contractual full-time rate per term is $25,500.00, salary is dependent upon the number of lab courses taught, up to 75% appointment for the fall term. The LEO Lecturer I would be teaching two to four General Chemistry laboratory courses (CHEM 134 and/or 136) and/or Organic Chemistry courses (225 and/or 227) at the undergraduate level for the Fall 2024 semester (September 1, 2024 ? December 31, 2024). The successful candidates will be comfortable teaching both in person, hybrid, and asynchronous/online modalities for the following Chemistry lab courses:CHEM 134: General Chemistry IA Lab at 25% effortCHEM 136: General Chemistry IIA Lab at 25% effortCHEM 225: Organic Chemistry I at 25% effortCHEM 227: Organic Chemistry Laboratory at 50% effortBased on performance and enrollment, the LEO Lecturer I may be appointed for the Winter 2025 term. Responsibilities* Duties of this position include teaching undergraduate laboratory courses, developing and providing to students a syllabus and materials using the online course management system, evaluating and grading students, holding regularly scheduled office hours, and handling routine matters related to instruction and proctoring midterm and final exams. Required Qualifications* Candidates must possess an earned M.Sc. in Chemistry with relevant specialization, relevant teaching experience and evidence of teaching excellence. Candidates will be evaluated based on submitted CV, teaching evaluations, and relevant recommendations. Desired Qualifications* Prefer candidates who earned PhD in Chemistry with relevant specialization, relevant teaching experience and evidence of teaching excellence. Union Affiliation This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
