In this role, you will oversee a diverse team responsible for intermodal transportation project surveys. You will use your technical expertise to provide right of way engineering services, develop cost estimates, prepare contracts, review deliverables, oversee quality assurance and review statements of work of consultants. A day in the life: Direct work to produce right of way drawings and descriptions for the purchase of property on agency projects and the sale of surplus agency property.Review drawings for compliance with agency standards and clear intent for property to be purchased or sold.Confirm the descriptions of real property will conform to the right of way drawing, and will legally convey the desired right and title to the state, local public agency or private party.Research, develop and evaluate new survey concepts for application to agency projects, to include equipment, technologies, techniques and practices.Review professional journals, publications, and research documents to stay current on latest methods, equipment, technologies, and practices in the area of specialization and related areas.Apply research results to develop original surveying solutions or to give management advice.Review field surveys and maps submitted for review by construction offices or flexible service contractors.Assist supervisor by assigning, reassigning, and reviewing work to meet project schedules or lead a team of surveying personnel on significant or unusual projects.Oversee the development and administration of contracts and agreements with consultants for survey work.Occasional field work on the survey crew, sites are subject to inclement weather conditions and may require walking in uneven, rocky or slick terrain.Must be able to lift and move at least 60 pounds of material or equipment and carry standard inspection, survey and testing equipment.Work in an office environment 1-2 days a week with hybrid remote work options available. Note: Three (3) years of journey level professional surveyor experience is considered licensed experience only. If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain professional registration in Oregon within six months of hire. Special qualifications: Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
