You will supervise heavy equipment technicians, lead workers and machinist. You are responsible for the repair, maintenance, modification, training and operations of vehicles and equipment. A day in the life: Provide leadership, oversight, establish work priorities and systems that guide staff in our repair program.Plan for and perform extensive, proactive customer outreach and engagement over a large geographic area and resolve any customer concerns.Plan for and perform regular, extensive, proactive outreach, engagement and coaching with our team of heavy equipment technicians.Resolve disciplinary issues and provide support to staff.Assess training needs of staff then build and implement training plans.Utilize fleet management software and Microsoft Office work Suite to efficiently manage administrative tasks of the shop. Such as reviewing and closing completed work orders, approving employee payroll, email communications, maintaining a personal appointment calendar, etc.Ensure all purchasing activities are in compliance with ODOT and Department of Administrative Services (DAS) policies and work closely with Repair Manager to build, monitor and manage shop budget.Generate work orders based on customer requests.Approve all repairs and ensure they are completed in an efficient and cost-effective manner.Serve as a contact for vendor warranty questions or issues.Work is often performed in/around heavy equipment with exposure to hazardous materials such as dust, fumes and herbicides.Daily heavy equipment repair and work outdoors and in office environments. Work in all weather conditions outside the shop during the day or night. Hybrid work options available! Minimum qualifications: Six (6) years of experience in the repair, modification, and adjustment of heavy equipment OR automobiles AND two (2) years of lead work or supervisory experience. Special qualifications: Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record.
