E-Resources Metadata LibrarianAcquisitions & Metadata.Collections Services & AnalysisThe E-Resources Metadata Librarian provides leadership andinitiative for the discovery and description of the Libraryselectronic collections and resources. Reporting to the Head ofAcquisitions and Metadata, the incumbent will develop, review, andenhance workflows for managing vendor and consortial records; leadand coordinate initiatives for maintenance and remediation ofe-resources metadata; and provide descriptive and subject metadatafor electronic resources.Working collaboratively with metadata, e-resources,acquisitions, licensed collections and technology services staff,the E-Resources Metadata Librarian also participates in thecreation, development and implementation of unit and team policiesand procedures, provides training to Library staff and/or studentemployees, and maintains a high-level working knowledge of theoryand practice pertaining to librarianship, specifically electronicresources.The ASU Library is a center of energy, imagination, andinnovation, with nine library facilities across four ASU campuslocations. Essential Functions Develops, implements, and manages workflows for creating andmaintaining electronic resources metadata. Responsible for metadatacreation and remediation projects; and identifying, harvesting, orenhancing legacy metadata to assist in user discovery of libraryand other information resources. Evaluates e-resource metadata from library systems, vendors,and other sources to determine the most suitable metadata fordiscovery purposes. Performs and manages metadata work at scale,employing automation and batch processes to load, enhance, andremediate metadata. Provides descriptive and subject metadata using ResourceDescription and Access (RDA), AACR2, MARC, Library of CongressSubject Headings (LCSH), and other standards. Develops priorities, policies, and procedures relating tometadata for electronic resources in conjunction with library anduniversity staff, vendors, and other stakeholders; identifies andresolves problems as applicable. Contributes to Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC)component programs as applicable, including establishing name/titleauthorities for NACO (Name Authorities Cooperative), subjects forSACO (Subject Authorities Cooperative) and bibliographic recordsfor BIBCO (bibliographic record cooperative). Establishes a solid knowledge base in metadata practices,cataloging and librarianship, maintaining a high-level workingknowledge of national and international literature for catalogingand classification of electronic resources. Keeps informed ofrevisions in standards and other trends/developments in metadatapractices. Participates in the creation, development, and implementationof unit and team policies and procedures; helps set unit/team goalsand priorities within the framework of the ASU Library goals andpriorities, and assists in the creation, development, andmaintenance of tools and resources used by Acquisitions andMetadata staff. Provides training to staff in Acquisitions and MetadataServices and other library staff. May also directly supervise oneor more staff and/or student employees. Performs and/or manages other responsibilities asassigned. Participates in professional contribution and serviceactivities. Qualifications: Required: Masters degree in Library and Information Science or equivalentfrom an ALA-accredited program by the hire date. Professional, paraprofessional or internship-level metadataand/or cataloging experience Preferred: Minimum of one year of experience with cataloging of electronicresources, particularly in a large academic research library Knowledge of MARC, LCSH, LC classification, RDA and/orAACR2 Experience working with Alma ILS and/or Primo discovery serviceand/or certification as an Alma/Primo Administrator Experience with OCLC or a similar utility and its practice Experience with batch loading and/or metadata remediation toolssuch as MARCEdit, OpenRefine, XSLT, and/or scripting languages Experience working with APIs or similar applications Experience cataloging serials and/or integrating resources Experience working collaboratively with staff, administrators,and other stakeholders Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills Training and/or supervisory experience Salary and Rank : This is a ContinuingAppointment track Academic Professional position;Assistant/Associate Librarian rank and salary dependent uponexperience.
