The successful candidate will primarily focus on proactive and reactive data protection matters, including advising on data security incidents and related regulatory investigations. Below is a comprehensive job description:Job Overview: The DSSP Incident Response Associate Attorney will provide legal counsel and support to clients on cybersecurity, data privacy, and incident response. This role involves advising on compliance with cybersecurity laws, handling data security incident notifications, defending regulatory investigations, and drafting various legal documents and contracts. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of legal experience in cybersecurity counseling and incident response and foundational knowledge in federal, state, and international cybersecurity laws.Duties:Advise clients on compliance with cybersecurity laws and regulations.Handle state, federal, and international data security incident notification obligations.Defend regulatory investigations related to security breaches.Prepare public-facing consumer disclosures and internal company policies and procedures.Draft, revise, and negotiate data and technology contracts with service providers and commercial customers.Provide legal guidance to MA deal teams and other firm colleagues on cybersecurity matters.Assist the team with privacy issues as needed.Requirements:2-4 years of legal experience, preferably in cybersecurity counseling and incident response.Foundational knowledge of federal, state, and foreign cybersecurity laws, including state data breach notification laws, CCPA, HIPAA, and GLBA.Motivation to learn and understand technology and forensic investigations.Experience liaising with claims counsel, forensic experts, and other approved vendors.Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Project management experience.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Commitment to continuing development in cybersecurity and data privacy laws and skills.Admission to the TX Bar.Education and Certifications:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the State Bar of Texas.Skills:Legal research and analysis.Contract drafting and negotiation.Regulatory compliance.Communication (verbal and written).Project management.Attention to detail.Adaptability and willingness to learn.Collaboration and teamwork.
