This role involves proactive and reactive data protection matters, including advising on data security incidents, regulatory investigations, and compliance with legal obligations related to security. Here's a breakdown of the job description:Job Overview:Provide legal counsel on data security incidents, regulatory investigations, and compliance matters.Draft, revise, and negotiate data and technology contracts.Advise on privacy issues and compliance with cybersecurity laws.Liaise with MA deal teams and other colleagues on cybersecurity matters.Duties:Advise clients on compliance with cybersecurity laws.Handle state, federal, and international data security incident notification obligations.Defend regulatory investigations related to security.Prepare public-facing consumer disclosures and internal company policies.Assist in drafting data and technology contracts.Provide counsel on privacy issues as needed.Requirements:2-4 years of legal experience in cybersecurity counseling and incident response.Foundational knowledge of federal, state, and foreign cybersecurity laws.Motivation to learn and understand technology and forensic investigations.Experience liaising with claims counsel, forensic experts, and vendors.Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Project management experience.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Commitment to continued professional development in cybersecurity and data privacy laws.Admission to MA Bar.Education and Certifications:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the Massachusetts Bar.Skills:Strong legal research and analytical skills.Ability to distill technical findings for non-technical audiences.Proficiency in drafting legal documents and materials in business-friendly language.Collaboration and teamwork skills.
