Contract type: Full Time (37.5 hours) – Fixed Term until 31/08/24 Location: Stockton-on-Tees, Durham University International Study Centre Salary: up to £ 23,337 per annum (DOE) JOB OVERVIEW We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Welfare Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing essential support and guidance to our students, ensuring their physical, mental, and emotional well-being throughout their academic journey. The Welfare Officer is a key role within the Student Support Team. The post holder will support the day-to-day running of the Welfare provision on campus and provide general administrate duties. In addition, this position will also support the wider Student Experience team as required. ABOUT THE ROLE Welfare & Safeguarding To deal with welfare-related issues appropriately and refer to DSL/DDSL as required. Coordinate the support for students who are under the age of 18, ensuring that they are safe and are accounted for daily. To provide a high level of pastoral care, supporting students with welfare and health issues through physical, emotional and mental health support. To have a good understanding and awareness of the procedures and policies associated with wellbeing and safeguarding. Work closely with colleagues to identify and support students with additional needs due to health / SEND. To coordinate the process for student Health Registration, working in collaboration with the local GP practice to ensure that all students are registered on the NHS system. To assist with screening medical needs, writing support plans and assisting students to access to healthcare professionals. To assist with the planning and implementation of an annual schedule of welfare events and promotional activities, liaising with external agencies to actively engage students in the promotion of health and wellbeing.
