A Designer is required for a reputable principal contractor in the roofing, cladding, curtain wall & glazing sector, based in Portsmouth. Key Responsibilities: To work on a total design solution specific to each project. This will be done by ensuring compliance to client’s recommendations/requirements and company procedures. Will be responsible for tasks relating to the project, instructed, and reporting to the Design Manager for the projects. A Designer is required for a reputable principal contractor in the roofing, cladding, curtain wall & glazing sector, based in Portsmouth. Key Responsibilities: To work on a total design solution specific to each project. This will be done by ensuring compliance to client’s recommendations/requirements and company procedures. Will be responsible for tasks relating to the project, instructed, and reporting to the Design Manager for the projects. The main duties of the role are as follows: Commence Design based on handover notes & and information whilst ensuring the durability of this process matches the programme. Aid in the collation of Technical Submissions for client’s approval. Liaise with external sub-contractors for Engineering packages for wind load, structural integrity, profiles, cladding supports, etc. Collate and produce Specification drawings, layouts, detail drawings, and bulk material scheduling for client’s approval, whilst ensuring the design meets current legislations, standards, and codes of practice. Review and amend the initial drawing package according to the client’s comments if necessary. Liaise with the site team to ensure drawings comply with existing site conditions, sequence of works, and buildability. Issue/ reissue Approval drawings for approval Update drawings to construction, according to comments received. Produce fabrication drawings and material scheduling.
