SUMMARY Bering Global Solutions, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Athletic Trainer for the Special Warfare Training Wing/Human Performance Support Group - Medical Support Services in San Antonio, TX. The Certified Athletic Trainer will evaluate, advise, and care for Special Warfare students to assist recovery from injury, avoid injury, or maintain peak physical fitness.NECESSARY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee must maintain a constant state of mental alertness at all times. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Requires some physical exertion, such as walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces as well as time spent outdoors in extreme temperatures and variable weather conditions. Work can require prolonged standing indoors or outdoors, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Incumbent is required to maintain strength, coordination and stamina to manage and operate exercise and medical equipment. The incumbent's physical conditioning must be sufficient to demonstrate and perform various exercise procedures and the ability to perform under stress, including lifting heavy weights potentially up to 100 lbs, squatting, sitting, running, jumping, bending, walking, crawling (low/high profile) for up to 25 meters, and prolonged standing. * Ability to move over, around, and through obstacles to a height of 10 feet, an up to 1.5 mile over rough terrain in extreme temperatures.ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned. * The AT shall perform specific duties to include, but are not limited to: * Conduct an initial assessment of a student's injury or illness to provide emergency or continued care, and to determine whether they should be referred to physicians for definitive diagnosis and treatment. * Care for student injuries using physical therapy equipment, techniques, and medication. * Evaluate student's readiness to return to training and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted. * Apply protective or injury preventive devices such as tape, bandages, or braces to body parts such as ankles, fingers, or wrists. * Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs for student injuries. * Advise athletes on the proper use of equipment. * Plan and implement comprehensive student injury and illness prevention programs. * Supervise and conduct physical training programs with consideration to individual injuries. * Develop training programs and routines designed to improve student performance. * Provide care to student for medical issues on a daily basis and coordinate with appropriate military personnel along with the Paramedic, Coaches, Program Manager, and other contractor personnel as determined necessary for the situation. * Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of training facility to include, but not limited to, medical and fitness equipment. * Organize and establish general rules of conduct for the training room facility. * Recommend any changes to the respective HPSG, SWTS, SWCC PM and/or SWCC leadership in regards to all athletic training supplies and equipment used at the SWTW Courses. * Keep accurate records of all injuries, method of treatment, rehabilitation, and medical releases. During normal operations, provide relevant information to SW medical staff to support the students' medical needs. * Keep the respective HPSG, SWTS, SWCC PM and/or SWCC leadership informed daily, and more frequently as situations dictate, of all students treated by the AT staff (as required). * Provide a weekly summary report (non-PII) to the respective HPSG, SWTS, SWCC PM and SWCC leadership on all treatments and activities conducted by the AT staff, including all coordination, planning and activities with non-HPSG personnel. * Work a non-standard schedule, extended hours, and/or rotating shifts which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, but not to exceed a 40- hour week. The Contractor shall be flexible and may need to deviate from the typical work week schedule. * Visits or extended duties in these locations or sites are necessary to observe performance/events, to survey, to conduct planning, etcetera to ensure mission accomplishment. Some agility and strength may be required in executing medical coverage in these operational environments. * May require travel away from the normal duty station in order to support training requirements. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Possess a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate sports/medical science field. * Certified Athletic Trainer (NATABOC or NATA) * Have minimum of two (2) years as a Certified Athletic Trainer - Collegiate level or higher. * Possess current and valid CPR/AED certification * Must be able to obtain and maintain all of the following within four months of hire date: * Certified in Functional Movement Screening (FMS) * Certified in Graston Techniques (GT) or Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilizations * Certified in Kinesio Taping Practitioner * Certified Astym therapy provider * Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification * Receive certification in one of the following within first 120 days: * National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certified personal trainer (CPT) or higher * EXOS Performance Specialist or higher * National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) or Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) * American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Health Fitness Specialist (HFS). * State of Texas license to practice or able to obtain a Texas license within four months of employment * U.S. citizen * NACI background check * Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to operate government vehiclesKnowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics * Must be able to communicate clearly * Must be able to work on an inter-disciplinary teamPreferred * Previous experience related to the essential duties and responsibilities outlined for this position. * Familiarity with Tactical Strength & Conditioning (TSAC)DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS * This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions.
