Vocational Specialist

Job description The Vocational Specialist will work with youth reintegrating back into their home communities from residential commitment programs to increase post-placement stability of youth through transition coordination from residential placement. The Vocational Specialist provides job readiness training and coaching, individual mentoring and post-secondary support services to youth. Duties and Responsibilities: Plan, coordinate and implement educational services and supports Use program resources and assessment tools to help youth identify the personality traits, skills, interests and values as they relate to exploring career options Develop an individual Service Plan (ISP) for each participant that includes goals in the following life domains: career, education, employment, independent living, and personal development Gains a basic knowledge of each youth's service plan and provide support in learning the skills needed to meet those goals. Help youth identify and achieve educational goals by identifying needs/gaps, as well as resources Establishes and maintains relationships with employers, military recruiters, Job Corps and the Arkansas Department of workforce services to develop opportunities for youth Establish and maintain communication with schools, colleges and trade schools Communicates with placement agencies and referral sources regularly Assists youth with completing employment applications and resumes Collaborate with Clinical Director, Therapist and After Care case manager to evaluate the needs of the youth and the ongoing development of the overall program. Assist with transition to appropriate placement, including high school/GED programs, vocational or training and college Assist youth in enrollment and actively support attainment of trade license or certification, and subsequent job apprenticeship placement Maintain individual case files outlining the services provided, dates, times, and units provided by the vocational specialist, as well as enter information into ritetrack. Practices and models appropriate self-regulation skills and is able to remain calm during times of stress and crisis Occasional travel required Must have the ability to efficiently manage a large caseload (active and follow up) Follow regulations under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and Jobs for Arkansas (JAG) programs Participates in agency performance quality improvement. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Type: Full-time Benefits: 401(k) Dental Insurance Health Insurance Paid time off Vision Insurance Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Human Services, or Social Work required with two years' experience working with at-risk youth. Two years' experience in higher education, counseling, case management or social work. Skills and Knowledge: The Vocational Specialist works effectively with all agency staff, members, volunteers, clients & families, human service providers, law enforcement, juvenile court(s), schools, and the community at-large to promote a positive, productive ethical culture.
