Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) is pleased to announce a rewarding opportunity for a full time Kinship Specialist for its Family Centered Services program serving Scott, Clinton, Jackson, Cedar, Louisa, Muscatine and Dubuque counties. You have a heart for service and the Kinship Specialist position provides a unique opportunity to directly and positively impact the safety and health of families in your community. DUTIES The Kinship Specialist is responsible for providing support, education and resources to families serving as kinship placements. The Kinship Specialist supports placement families to receive the required level of services, supports and resources to ensure a safe and stable placement for as long as the children require out of home placement. The Kinship Specialist will regularly communicate with Family Support Specialists, mental health and other professionals, and formal and informal supports as part of the service team. Travel is required throughout the service area to meet with kinship placements in their homes. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree with a major in social work, sociology, psychology, human services, criminal justice, counseling, family therapy, family services, family studies, child & family services, human relations, chemical dependency counselor, nursing, special education, elementary education, secondary education, law enforcement administration, or political science. Major of study must match with what is listed on college transcript--any degree major not listed does not meet requirements. Two years of full-time experience in human services or a related field. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a major in social work, sociology, psychology, human services, criminal justice, counseling, family therapy, family services, family studies, child & family services, human relations, chemical dependency counselor, nursing, special education, elementary education, secondary education, law enforcement administration, or political science. Major of study must match with what is listed on college transcript--any degree major not listed does not meet requirements. One year of full-time experience in human services or a related field. Current certification in Solution Based Casework is a plus. Must have a good understanding of English language and be able to complete documentation. This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
