We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lewisham to assist with the appointment of a Senior Project Manager , on a 6-month contract , highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Responsibilities: To work closely with staff within the Directorate and across the Council to ensure the optimum delivery team to meet corporate priorities To ensure effective project delivery influencing key project stakeholders, including project owners (e. g. Stock Investment Manager, Heads of Service, Executive Directors), Consultants (e. g. Architects, Contractors) and relevant portfolio holders (e. g. Members). Provide management and leadership of the project team with coaching, mentoring and professional development as necessary, maintaining an overview of the teams performance and that of individuals and achieving improvement in the teams project management capabilities. To manage additional support as required to support delivery and ensure that all project delivery staff use their expertise to influence the projects governance and structure and produce monitoring and evaluation plans for the length of the project. To develop project proposals through feasibility work, to test their deliverability and make recommendations on the necessary funding. Lead on the implementation of specific capital project/ retrofit programme schemes ensuring the required outcomes are met and that projects/programmes are negotiated and delivered within a tight commercial framework. Requirements: Significant experience of working in a complex programme/project environment. Significant experience of directly managing a project team and the performance management of project team individuals. Significant experience of planning and managing the deployment of project resources to meet project milestones. Significant experience of executing risk management/mitigation strategies and plans.
